Opponent: Surrey Guildford United (SGU) U14 A Boys
Date: Sunday July 4th, 2010
Result: SGU 6  :  KU 2
Kelowna United U14 Interior A Cup Champions faced off against Surrey Guildford United U14 Coastal A Cup Champions in the Provincial A Cup final held in Kamloops on Sunday July 4th.  In the first half, KU appeared nervous and found themselves under pressure from a strong SGU team. SGU controlled most of the first half with great possession and passing skills. KU fell behind early as SGU scored back to back goals followed by a third on a penalty kick. Down 3-0, KU struggled to move into the SGU half of the field. However, KU did finally penetrate the opposition end with midfielder Matt Droguett making a brilliant cross from the right side into the box finding fellow midfielder Dom Haynes who headed the ball neatly into the back of the net.  KU couldn’t maintain the momentum, though, as SGU countered soon after to lead by 4-1 at half time.
Regrouping at the half, KU came out with more energy, but the SGU midfield continued to play a strong shutdown game. SGU went on to capitalize on more scoring opportunities upping the score to 6-1. However, late in the half, KU fought back scoring their second goal of the game on a nice individual effort by forward Liam Duncan. KU Coach Tony Overton reported how pleased he was with the performance of the team throughout the season, he also commented on how well the boys had played in the second half of the game, and that the boys had shown great courage and determination to compete with a very strong Coastal team.

With the final score of 6-2 for SGU, KU finished with the silver medal in this Provincial A Cup final.
