The Kelowna girls opened strongly with two scoring attempts within the first five minutes of the game, with both Casey Loudoun(#14) and Serena Boulter (#12) going close. Despite this pressure the first hald ended 0-0. The half time talk from coach Graham seemed to work, with Kelowna going one-nil up immediately after the restart. KU Boys U12 B

Kelowna United U12 boys B team performed well this past weekend in regular season matches against Vernon and Penticton. After coming up short against Vernon with a 5-4 loss, they came back to defeat Penticton by a score of 5-1. Sasha Josipovic led the team in scoring with a hat trick in the first game, and 2 goals in the second. Matt Harden completed the scoring in the first game, while Nick Braidwood, Scott Rutter and Lloyd Larsen each contributed 1 goal in KU’s victory over Penticton.

KU Boys U12 C

The Kelowna United U12 Boys Impact (Team 3) struggled to find a win on the weekend against Penticton 1 and Penticton 2, losing both games by scores of 1-0 and 2-1, respectively. The boys played well defensively but had little success finishing around the opposition net. In the second game, Jake Kovatch scored the Impact's lone goal as the team controlled much of the first half play. However, Penticton 2 completed the comeback after the break with two quick goals as the boys tired and laboured to find their first half form.

KU Boys U14 A

The Kelowna United KU-14 "A" boys came out strong and dominated throughout the match for a convincing 10-0 win over visiting Calgary U-16 girls at Kelowna Christian School. For the first goal, midfielder, Matt Fielding, shot the ball at goal where Liam Duncan tapped it in. The second goal came from the right side as forward Stefan Obradovic crossed it into the box where Duncan again found the back of the net. Then, left mid, Dom Haynes, made a run up the left side, made a beautiful pass to Josh Ugyan who put it home to make it 3-0. Striker, Tyler Shalansky, later made it 4-0 on a deft solo effort. Following that, Haynes made a precision pass to Duncan who made a powerful kick that squeezed through the Calgary keeper's hands for a 5-0 score.

KU continued moving the ball well stringing together a series of passes including several field switches. Ayo Fashanu lobbed a floater over the Calgary netminder after receiving a nice pass from Matthew VanDenHeuvel to make it 6-0. Later, Haynes crossed to Obradovic who struck with conviction for a 7-0 score. Right defender, Kurtis Knuth, then brought the ball into Calgary's zone, passed to Matt Droguett, who fed it to Shalansky who found the upper right corner for the 8th goal. Fashanu put number nine past the Calgary keeper, assisted by Duncan. The final goal, an own-goal deflection off a Calgary defender, was credited to Duncan for his fourth of the match.

In addition to an offense onslaught, an excellent effort by a solid defensive line helped KU and keeper, David Denton, earn the shutout. Impressive throughout the match were defenders Ayden Ledding, Joe Overton and Walker Shanks who allowed not a single scoring chance to the opposition.

KU Boys U14 B

KU U14 B - Penticton 1 - 3 (0 - 2)
Kelowna Goalscorer, Dylan Wagner (58)

This game was played on a sunny day and on a nice pitch at Bylands. Penticton came on strong from the start and found gaps in Kelowna's midfield from where balls were played in behind the defensive line. Within the first 15 minutes Penticton was also awarded two penalty kicks on which they scored once. Curtis made a fine save on the second PK. A sloppy freekick from Kelowna United found its way to an open Penticton striker whose hard shot found the net to make the score 0-2 on 17 minutes. The rest of the half, Kelowna United played better and Liam together with Jonah started winning balls in the midfield and tried to spread the ball to the strikers and outside midfielders. Unfortunately, the ball reached a Penticton defender almost every time and even though the game evened out, Penticton was more dangerous in their attacks.

The second half a few substitutions and a revised game plan led to a different game. Kelowna tried to find space in behind Penticton’s defenders and created a few decent scoring opportunities, while some defensive mistakes led to clear goal opportunities for Penticton who couldn’t finish them off. 12 minutes before the final whistle, Nick Morel beat the Penticton keeper to the ball, and made a beautiful cross to Dylan who headed into the open net. During his move Nick got injured by the late tackling keeper, who also was late on a loose ball which Dylan Wagner beat him to a few minutes later. The referee didn’t see the foul and a few minutes later, the Penticton man of the match found the Kelowna net after a hard strike off a rebound.
In the last 5 minutes Kelowna had one more good opportunity but Tristin was unlucky with his shot flying just over the crossbar after a nice move and shot from Dylan.

In summary the game was lost to a decent and solid Penticton team.

3 *** Harrison Argatoff. Is playing better each week and leads the team well with his calmness and good decision making.
2 ** Jory Dickie, Works hard every time he is on the pitch and always covers well, both offensively and defensively.
1 * Phillip Schrod, Played in a new role in the second half and did it almost flawlessly. Good work ethic and a desire to win every ball.
