KU- Kamloops 3 - 1

May 9th, at the Sahali Secondary School in Kamloops, KU U13B boys played extremely well and overtook Kamloops 3-1. Max Morgan is credited with the hat-trick of goals all scored on free kicks. KU boys played one of their best games of the season with solid defense and aggressive mid fielding to keep the game in the Kamloops end. Kamloops was able to score early in the game off a sloppy corner kick however, keeper Bailey Larusson, stopped the numerous attacks on our net for the duration of the game. Mitch MacDonald, Callum Reid and Christian Holzhey also had good games. It felt like the turning point of the season as the boys worked hard for the much needed and well deserved win. The overall season thus far, including exhibition and tournament games sits at 4-2-6, each of the losses were a with a one goal deficit. Good Work boys.

KU Boys U14 B

KU Boys U14 B - Kamloops 4-4 (2-3)
Goals scorers (KU), Dylan Wagner x 3, Nick Morel

The game started with Kamloops benefiting from the wind at their backs. When the dust had settled after the initial Kamloops bombardment, the score showed 3-0, even though Kelowna goalie Curtis Bailey had came up with a couple of strong saves. In reply to this, the coaching staff made some changes which turned the game strongly in favor of Kelowna United. Ken Hagen and Liam Sweeney pressured the Kamloops defence over and over again and KU took over the majority of the possession. Dylan Wagner found the net twice; and at half time, the score showed Kelowna United 2, Kamloops 3.

The second half was dominated by Kelowna, in terms of chances and possession. Kelowna hit the post, missed a few open opportunities and were kept out by a strong Kamloops goalkeeper, before Nick Morel hit home a free kick from just outside the box.
5 minutes before the final whistle, Kelowna took the lead for the first time after Dylan Wagner scored his third goal of the day after a superb through ball from the second half's dominating player, team captain Jonah Kipnis.
However, during the dying seconds of the game, Kamloops scored once again and the hard fought and entertaining game finished in a tie!

In summary, everyone on the Kelowna team fought hard and showed great morale coming back from a three goal deficit. Extra credit to hatrick man Dylan Wagner and Jonah Kipnis for his second half performance.
