KU - Shuswap: 3-2
Goal scorers: Magan Gerien, Julia Bower, Freya Kellet Cautions:
Following a disappointing loss against Kamloops Blaze the previous day the Kelowna team were determined to win this game against the Shuswap. They came out very strong and a great early goal from Megan Gerien gave them an early lead. Unfortunately Shuswap leveled the game within minutes but a fantastic long shot from Julia Bower in her first game back after injury put Kelowna back in the lead 2-1.
After halftime, despite flagging in the heat, a goal from Freya Kellet put Kelowna 3-1 up however a defensive blunder resulted in Shuswap pulling the score back to 3-2. Then 15mins from the end of the game a handball in the box gave Shuswap a penalty shot. The Kelowna United goal keeper, Jooella Koblische had to make two penalty saves (as a result of the first being disallowed) to keep Kelowna in the lead – this earned Kelowna a much needed 3-2 win and Joella the MVP award for the day.

Kamloops Kelowna United 2-1
Goal scorer, KU; Wagner
Kelowna traveled to their second away game in two days, and with several players missing, the team knew that this would be a difficult match.
Kelowna started brightly, creating several chances within the first 10 minutes of the match, with both Wagner and Sweeney coming close to opening the scoring. Kamloops battled hard but were unable to really assert any domination in the game. Kelowna continued to pile on the pressure, and Argatoff was unlucky not to connect with an excellent inswinging free kick from Maclean. As half time approached, a quick counter attack from Kamloops led to them winning only their second corner of the match. From this corner, an unfortunate mix up in the box led to an accidental handball, which the referee adjudged to be deliberate! The resulting penalty was cooly slotted away by the Kamloops front man, which meant the home side went in 1-0 up at the break.
The second half started much the same, with Kelowna having most of the possession. However, another quick counter attack from Kamloops split the Kelowna defence, and led to an undeserved second goal. To their credit, in spite of obvious fatigue, Kelowna continued to battle and created several more good chances which on another day would have been converted. As the clock ticked down, Kelowna switched to a more attacking 3-5-2. The home team struggled to cope with the pressure, and following nice work from Lobson and Schrod, Wagner was played through one on one with the goalkeeper and he cooly slotted home. The away team continued to press but were unable to find the equaliser, which their play fully justified.
The game finished 2-1, but given the tough game the day before and the missing players, a generally very good performance from the team.
***Heera-excellent defending throughout the game
**Maclean-good defensive work and dangerous balls forward.
*Croteau-good battling and nice footwork on the ball.
